As many of you know, I've been in the field of Nutrition and Food Science for a very long time. But what you may not know is that I FINALLY get my degree in June 2013. For that reason, I decided to start blogging about the nutrition information that I feel may be beneficial to my family and friends and worth knowing in general. Did you know...

A gram of carbohydrates provides 4 calories
A gram of fat provides 9 calories
A gram of protein provides 4 calories
A gram of alcohol provides 7 calories

45-65% of calories should come from carbohydrates
20-35% should come from lipids
10-35% should come from protein


Women should drink 11 cups of water/day
Men should drink 15 cups of water/day


Cholesterol intake should be less than 300 mg/day

1 pound stored fat = 3500 calories
